MR16

The MR16 (or MR-16) format was originally developed for halogen multifaceted reflector (’MR‘) bulbs. The suffix ‘16’ refers to the diameter of the reflector, which is 16/18 of an inch (2 inches) or 50 mm.
 

GU10

GU10 refers to the turn-and-lock base that distinguishes these mains- voltage MR16 lamps from their low-voltage equivalents and makes sure they can‘t be interchanged accidentally.

 

E27

The E27 is the familiar 27 mm Edison screw cap fitting (ES) that is widely used in Europe.
 

T8 fluorescent lamps

The T8 fluorescent tube is a 1” (25 mm) tube that has been in widespread use since the 1980s.
