Issues
MD Oliver Espinasse told us Boyriven had been established over 100 years ago supplying the motor trade with textiles and upholstery.
Their issues with the existing lighting was both colour and in cutting and preparation. Mainly the existing lighting was not adequate LUX to spot flaws in the rolls of textile or to cut accurately. On dull days cutting took longer and the staff struggled to see imperfections in the textiles.
Oliver also wanted to reduce their energy use and carbon footprint.
LEDlights4you installed their Smart LED High Bat Disc which comes with a occupation and daylight sensor. The lighting was redesigned to reduce the number of light units from 23 to just 16 and increasing the LUX levels by over 100%.
With this technology each light has an individual sensor which interfaces directly with the LED driver. This allows the sensor to control dimming and switching for the unit. The sensor responds to movement and daylight levels which means the light is only activated when occupation is sensed or when the natural light levels are low. Ultimately this saves up to 60% more energy than standard LED lights.
In addition the lights can be Adjusted to the preferred sensitivity, light level and hold time from a hand held remote. The settings are stored in the remote, with up to 4 pre-set settings. This allows the warehouse staff to display the lights existing setting and change the setting with just a single key operation. Emergency Lights were also replace by LED emergency bulkheads with separate battery backup.
“Lights are no longer on when there’s no one about, wasting energy is eliminated”
All the lights installed have a 50,000 hour life, in normal use that’s around 15 – 20 years’ service.
