Who We Help
NHS Trust Hospitals
NHS hospital lighting is often on 24 hours a day, particularly in A&E, corridors and wards. For this reason, it is important that LED lighting installed within NHS trust hospitals has a low running cost, long life expectancy and is installed in an efficient and non-intrusive manner.
In recent years, many NHS trust hospitals have begun to make the switch away from LED panels that are not ETL (Energy Technology List) compliant, these tend to fail in less than 2 years. Fortunately, LED lighting that is ETL compliant can be sourced at a similar price, offer 40% better energy savings, last 5 times longer and allow businesses to apply for Enhanced Capital Allowance.

NHS Trust Hospitals
Why ETL Compliant LED Lighting Matters
There are a number of other benefits that come with choosing high quality ETL compliant LED lighting including:
- Flicker free, not only is this more comfortable on the eyes, but will also not impact patients who may be suffering from conditions such as epilepsy.
- Anti-glare lenses, creating a more comfortable environment for patients and staff.
- LED lights do not create heat, meaning the need for air conditioning can be reduced, patients will be more comfortable and no dark heat patches will be created on ceilings.
- Zero maintenance, keeping maintenance costs down and patient disruption to a minimum.
- IP rated, meaning they do not require cleaning and will deter any unhygienic flies.
With teams of electricians based in Bristol, London and Leeds we are well placed to work on NHS Hospitals in England and Wales. A typical Hospital will have up to 5,000 light fittings which we can normally re-fit with LED lighting within a month or so.

Who We Help
Medical Centres/Doctor’s Surgeries
Medical centres and doctor’s surgeries are the first to feel budget cuts, and conditions have suffered as a result. With longer waiting times and less availability, it is important that conditions are as good as possible to keep satisfaction rates as high as possible.
Like NHS trust hospitals, medical centres and doctor’s surgeries are often open for long hours and so energy bills can sky rocket. In addition to the savings made from the switch to super-efficient LED lighting, further savings can be made through occupancy control settings.
We have vast experience working with medical centres and doctor’s surgeries, having recently completed a project at St. Andrews House Medical Centre in Stalybridge, you can read the full case study here.

Who We Help
Dental Practices
Dental Practices whether private or NHS registered are often open for long hours and thus energy usage is a large consideration. Additionally, the impacts on the aesthetics of the building should be considered; with brighter lighting making patients more alert and making the building seem more welcoming.
Another important aspect of lighting within dental practices is the LUX level. In order to see the patients, mouth property, the dentist will require a LUX of between 500 and 750. With traditional lighting, this would not be possible without blinding the patients however, with modern LED panel lights, light of the right intensity is dissipated across the entire room.

SALIX Finance
NHS Trusts and Foundation Trusts have access to SALIX interest free loans to pay for energy efficiency equipment such as lighting. We supply ETL Compliant LED Lighting as Accredited members of the Carbon Trust and ILP, Ledlights4you is accepted for SALIX financing initiatives.
Energy Saving Benefits of LED Lighting in Offices
Energy saving is also another big benefit, for example 600 x 600 quad fluorescent units consume around 84W total taking into account the chokes, whereas the latest LED 600 x 600 panels are actually 20% brighter and consume just 25W, and energy saving of 71%.
For example Nortech Control Ltd based in Cwmbran South Wales, were able to save over £9,440 over 5 years, with the payback in just 32 months.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is LED lighting especially important in medical and healthcare environments?
Lighting in medical settings affects everything from patient comfort and recovery to clinical accuracy and staff performance. Poor lighting can increase fatigue, reduce precision during procedures, and negatively impact the environment for patients and caregivers.
LED lighting provides bright, stable, and flicker-free illumination. It reduces glare, improves visibility, and supports infection control, all while lowering energy costs. For healthcare environments that operate 24/7, this reliability and efficiency are essential.
What are the benefits of ETL-compliant LED lighting in medical settings?
ETL (Energy Technology List) compliance ensures lighting products meet strict energy efficiency and performance criteria. ETL-compliant LEDs last longer, reduce running costs, and qualify for Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) schemes – important for NHS Trusts and private providers seeking cost-effective upgrades.
LEDlights4you only supplies ETL-compliant lighting that meets medical-grade standards. These products also provide higher light output and colour stability, helping healthcare providers meet regulatory and operational goals.
How does lighting affect patient comfort and experience?
Patients often spend long periods under artificial light. Flickering or overly bright lighting can cause discomfort, increase anxiety, and disrupt rest. LEDlights4you supplies lights with soft, flicker-free output and colour temperatures between 4000K and 5000K – suitable for creating calm, clinical environments.
The even distribution of light reduces visual stress, and anti-glare designs help make treatment rooms, corridors, and waiting areas more pleasant for both patients and visitors.
What areas of a healthcare facility benefit most from upgraded lighting?
LED upgrades can be valuable throughout a facility – including wards, surgeries, treatment rooms, corridors, receptions, staff rooms, and external areas. Areas that operate continuously or demand higher lighting standards, such as A&E departments or operating theatres, benefit especially from high-efficiency, low-maintenance LED systems.
LEDlights4you can tailor lighting systems to suit the requirements of each space, from high-lumen task lighting in clinics to softer, ambient lighting in patient rooms.
How does LED lighting support infection control?
LED lighting contributes to a safer clinical environment in several ways. Unlike fluorescents, LEDs do not attract flies or generate heat that can encourage microbial growth. Many of the fittings supplied by LEDlights4you are sealed, IP-rated, and made with smooth surfaces that are easy to clean and disinfect.
The lights also do not emit UV or infrared rays, making them suitable for use in sterile or sensitive environments.
Can you provide emergency lighting systems for medical facilities?
Yes. LEDlights4you supplies and installs fully compliant emergency lighting systems to BS 5266 standards. These systems ensure that exits, corridors, and critical areas remain safely illuminated in the event of a power failure.
Options include maintained, non-maintained, and self-testing emergency lights with battery backups. This is essential for healthcare environments where even a brief outage can put patients or staff at risk.
Will installation disrupt patient care or operations?
LEDlights4you understands the sensitivity of medical settings and plans installations to minimise disruption. Work is typically scheduled outside of clinical hours or coordinated closely with facility managers to avoid patient-facing zones during critical times.
All installation teams are trained, courteous, and experienced in working within NHS and private healthcare environments. Work is completed efficiently and safely, often in phases to allow day-to-day operations to continue.
Can healthcare providers access funding support for LED upgrades?
Yes. NHS Trusts and some private facilities may qualify for funding through schemes such as SALIX finance, which provides interest-free loans for energy efficiency improvements. LEDlights4you is an accredited supplier under Carbon Trust initiatives and can assist in preparing the necessary documentation.
By choosing ETL-compliant lighting and working with an experienced partner, healthcare providers can often complete upgrades with no upfront capital cost while reducing long-term energy expenditure.
