Winford Ford – North Somerset

Existing Technology

Workshops were 15 x 250W Metal Halide High Bays, High Running Costs (293W Load). The MOT Bay, Lift Bays, Offices were all using 70W Twin Fluorescent Fittings.

Issues

Metal Halide High Bays were failing and some dim and yellow. The fluorescent units throughout were old and a few had failed. Whilst some of the T12 8’ 100w Fluorescent fitting had been replaced with LED battens these were simply not as bright as the fittings they had replaced. Areas of the workshop in winter months were dark and technicians were reliant on torches to light up work. Offices also were below standard for efficient work.

The Outside Car Display used Metal Halide units to light up the cars in the evening and at night. These were failing and generally poor yellow light.

Solution

Workshops: LEDlights4you Reduced the number of High Bays fitting 9 x 150W High Bay Disc Lights which emit 150Lumens per Watt using Philips LED Chips, which come with a 10 year warranty. LUX Levels were increased by 200%, 500LUX with a 110 degree light spread giving better light even under bonnets or lifts.

The Stores, Offices and MOT Bay: LEDlights4you fitted 44W 120Lumen per Watt Twin Epistar LED Battens. These improved the light spread (120deg) over the previous fluorescent units with an even spread of 4000K daylight.

The Car Display: LEDlights4you reduced the number of Flood Lights by 50% using Super-efficient Philips LED IP67 Floods. Again the display area is now like viewing in Daylight.

All these have a TUV Certified Minimum Build Standard 50,000 hours, 62% energy saving. LUX levels were increased to 400LUX average.
